Artist Philosophy & Mission
As an artist, I believe that art is not only a craft but a form of devotion and an offering that can awaken the soul to the presence of God. Whether painting a saint, working with ancient pigments and gold leaf, or capturing the unique expression of a person’s face, my work seeks to honor the dignity, mystery, and beauty of the human person and the created world.
I work across sacred and traditional genres which include iconography, illuminated works, portraiture, and landscapes with the same contemplative attention to light, form, and meaning. Sacred art is set apart in its service to the liturgy, yet even in the created world, in light on a hillside or the curve of a face, there are quiet invitations to encounter deeper mysteries. My studio practice is rooted in reverence, drawing on time honored techniques in mediums such as egg tempera, oil, encaustic, watercolor, and clay to create work that endures not only in beauty and spirit, but also in the strength of materials crafted to last for centuries.
I believe sacred art is not merely seen, it is encountered. Each piece is a prayerful response to a culture longing for stillness and meaning, formed in the conviction that beauty heals, truth transcends, and the soul is drawn to the divine. Art, for me, is a sacred vocation. It invites us to slow down, to behold, and to remember what is eternal.
The Shamrock Society, is the natural extension of this vision. Named after the shamrock of Saint Patrick—a symbol of the Holy Trinity, it brings together faith, craft, and beauty. The Society is both a studio and sanctuary: a space for sacred art, classical teaching, and community rooted in Christian tradition. Through commissions, exhibitions, and educational offerings, it seeks to reconnect artists and viewers alike with the enduring language of sacred art, while honoring the human form and the created world as reflections of divine love.
Whether in an icon, a portrait, or a landscape, my hope is always the same: to create work that reveals beauty, invites contemplation, and stirs the heart toward what is eternal.
